Assessments

An assessment with with a speech language pathologist will include
- collecting information about your child's medical history, current strengths, and the parent's concerns
- a formal test instrument that will provide info about how your child's skills compare to his/her peers
- a language sample

Assessments typically take between 90 - 120 minutes to collect all the information needed. After you and your child leave the assessment, the SLP will prepare a report which will include a description of their findings. Your SLP will discuss with you whether your child can benefit from speech therapy and will discuss different treatment options with you.
